Mark Chamberlain
President
Trivaris
Mark Chamberlain is the President and one of the founding partners in
Trivaris. Mark is an accomplished and proven entrepreneur/business
executive that specializes in transforming nascent ideas from concepts
to sustainable companies. Mark is best known for his time at Wescam.
He joined Wescam in 1985 and became President and CEO in 1987,
when he led a management buyout team to purchase the company.
Under his leadership, Wescam became a public company trading on the
TSX in 1995, made several acquisitions, and established it as a leader in
visual information systems markets around the world. As a result, the
company grew from a 17-person organization located in Canada with
revenue of less than $1 million in 1987, to a 550-person company with
six facilities located throughout North America and revenue of $166
million in 2001. To further support the company's future growth, Wescam
initiated a process to sell the company in mid-2002, which resulted in L-3
Communications’ successful acquisition of the organization in late 2002.
After a year of transition, Mark retired from Wescam in October 2003.
Mark is currently a member of the board and Vice-Chair of the Hamilton
Community Foundation and a member of the Board of the Ontario
Centers of Excellence. Mr. Chamberlain was born in Toronto, Ontario,
Canada, in 1956. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree
(BASc) and a Masters of Applied Science degree (MASc) in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
Mark received the University of Waterloo Engineering Alumni Medal in
1999, was awarded the Ernst & Young 2001 Ontario Entrepreneur of the
Year Award in the Technology and Communications category, the 2001
National Entrepreneur of the Year Special Citation for Market
Leadership, and a Professional Engineers of Ontario Medal for
Entrepreneurship in 2004. Mr. Chamberlain was also selected as one of
the top 100 Entrepreneurs in Ontario by the Ontario Business Report in
1996
