Dr. Xianyao Li, is a professional engineer and holds a doctoral degree in metallurgical engineering and has authored more than 30 technical papers in scientific journals and numerous technical reports in scientific conferences and the specialized minting conferences. He was the Director of Corporate Engineering in charge of Engineering Design, Process Development and Product Improvements and new technology development at the Royal Canadian Mint. He is currently the Chief Technology Officer of the Royal Canadian Mint in charge of Research and development and technological innovation of Advanced Materials and minting process as well as Technical Support to the Manufacturing. Dr. Li was the technical leader of the Vancouver Winter Olympic and Paralympic Medal project at the Royal Canadian Mint.
In addition to the technical leadership role at the Royal Canadian Mint, Dr. Li has also been involved in supervising doctoral and master degree graduate students at two Canadian universities.
