Professor Mussivand is an internationally acclaimed and renowned scientist, problem solver, educator, humanitarian and inventor. He has invented and/or led the development of 31 needed technologies (artificial hearts, Heart failure recovery, DNA from fingerprints, blood clot prevention, in situ sterilization, remote monitoring and control of implant devices, etc) of which 20 are patented or in process. One invention alone (HeartSaver VAD) led to creation of over 1,000 person/years of employment and brought over $500 million investment to Canada. His breakthroughs in medical device technology development have provided practical solutions to complex problems. His outstanding pioneering contributions in artificial hearts, heart failure treatment, DNA extraction, and medical devices, among others have made significant contributions to human knowledge, and know how to save countless lives.
