Michael Nobrega was appointed President and CEO of OMERS, effective March 12, 2007. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Nobrega was President and CEO of Borealis Infrastructure, an OMERS investment entity. Prior to Borealis, Mr. Nobrega was a partner at a major international accounting firm.

Mr. Nobrega holds an Honours BA from the University of Toronto and a chartered accountancy designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. In 2002, Mr. Nobrega received the University of Toronto's Arbor Award for outstanding community service. In 2009, Mr. Nobrega was named a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.

OMERS is one of Canada's largest pension plans, with more than $60 billion in assets. It provides retirement benefits to over 400,000 members on behalf of over 920 local government employers across Ontario.
