Laurent graduated from the I.H.E.D.R.E.A. (High Studies Institute for Law and Economy in Agro-Business) in Paris, France, in 1985.
Prior to joining BASF, Laurent worked in marketing functions for the Elf-Atochem group in France before involving in the import-export business for plastic foils specialties.
Laurent joined Elastogran, the European subsidiary of BASF Polyurethanes, in 1991. He held various functions in the Elastogran group including Sales, Business Management (polyurethanes specialties in France), General Management (of the group-company in Turkey), and European Business Management (polyurethanes insulation products for Europe-Middle East-Africa at the Elastogran headquarters in Lemförde, Germany).
On March 1, 2009, he was appointed President of BASF Canada.
