Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) Value Added Personnel (VAP) Program
Practice the Event:
A Mock Conference Visit and Networking Opportunity
Monday, May 11, 2009 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Metro Toronto Convention Centre
This one-day program explores professional networking strategies through the practical application of networking best practices using a dynamic conference setting as the primary learning environment. Participants will explore the value and nature of networks, define the strategic role for networks in their own future and learn how to add value within project teams.
Exploring the best practices and tools of building a good network, participants will learn and develop the dynamics of advanced questioning, listening and communication skills. Through interactive workshop settings, participants will gain an understanding of strategies to manage generational differences within their interactions with others. They will also develop and practice the "etiquette" needed for social networking opportunities such as networking events and meet and greet events common to conferences and business symposiums.
The workshop concludes with a mock conference where participants put into practice their newly learned strategies and skills in a setting that mimics the conference floor.
