Ontario Centres of Excellence's Discovery Student Oral Competition lets university and college research students compete for cash prizes by pitching their leading edge research projects in front of a live audience and panel of judges. Students must demonstrate why industry needs their research and its potential impact on Ontario. Presentations are five minutes followed by a two minute question period from a panel of judges. The winner takes home $2,500, second place $1,500 and third place $1,000.

Connections participants are eligible to win one of three $2,000 cash prizes as the best university, college or Ontario Power Authority (OPA) energy conservation project.

Five teams from campuses across Ontario will be competing for the title of Ontario's Next Top Young Entrepreneur by pitching innovative start up ideas. The winning team will be enrolled in OCE's Centre for Commercialization of Research's New Entrepreneur Program where they will be granted a non-recourse micro-loan of up to $18,000 ($6,000 per team member) to launch a new start-up, have access to advisory services and have the opportunity to network with key mentors and private investors.
